Police said on Wednesday they found the former manager of American rock band "Ramones" dead in her Fifth Avenue apartment in Manhattan, Associated Press reported.
The body of celebrity real-estate agent, Linda Stein, 62, was discovered on October 30 by her daughter lying face down in a pool of blood, in her home.
According to a medical report, Stein died from blunt-force trauma to the head, Grace Brugess, spokeswoman for the medical examiner's office said. Police is currently investigating the death which is considered a homicide.
So far, authorities revealed that there was no sign of forced entry at the time they arrived at the scene after responding to a 911 call and nothing from her home appeared to me missing. No suspects have been publicly named yet, and authorities are still struggling to identify a motive.
"She had a tough exterior but she had a heart of gold," said Dottie Herman, a colleague and close friend. Stein had been struggling with breast cancer and "was a little wobbly on her feet some days," Herman said.
"I just assumed Linda fell and hit her head when I first heard about this, because I can't imagine anyone that would want to kill Linda," said, Herman, CEO of Prudential Douglas Elliman, where Stein worked.
Finding a lead in their investigation might prove a tough job considering the tumultuous relationships Stein had. Investigators believe that Stein was spotted earlier on Tuesday and are trying to find out who was the last to see her alive.
"We’re talking to everyone who has information about her whereabouts before the incident," Paul J. Browne, the police department’s chief spokesman was quoted by New York Times as saying. "We’re not going to speculate as to the motive at this time."
Stein, who quit rock ‘n’ roll for real estate, is credited with booking The Ramones’ July 1976 appearance at the Roundhouse in London, thought to be one of the key moments in the creation of British punk scene, BBC reported. She later became the "realtor to the stars," working with clients such as Steven Spielberg, Billy Joel and Madonna.
