LeBron James recovered from the embarrassing game against the Mavericks in which he scored just 10 point and this time delivered big time against the New York Knicks. King James scored 45 points in Cleveland’s 110-106 victory over New York in the Knicks' season opener.
James shot about 50 per cent from the floor (13-for-28) and also converted 16 of his 22 free throws. He added three baskets from behind the three point line and had three steals. His consistency was also staggering, as he scored 23 points in the first half and 22 in the second.
"It's about showing a little energy. I don't think I played with the energy I know I can play with on Wednesday, and I came out with a lot of energy tonight.” James said and didn’t forget to praise his team mates as well for the win.
But LeBron wasn’t the only Cavalier hot against the Knicks. Daniel Gibson recorded 24 points on a 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc and Drew Gooden added 14 points and six rebounds.
Jamal Crawford led New York in scoring with 25 points and added six assists to complete a good performance, while Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph combined for 39 points and 21 rebounds.
Nate Robinson offered the Knicks a little help off the bench and scored 19 points on a 4-for-5 three-point shooting, while starting point guard Stephon Marbury was held to 10 points on 3-for-11 from the floor.
"We got beat by a great performance tonight. We feel we could have overcome it...If you're going to win on the road, you can't have the mental breakdowns that we had in this ballgame...We're not ready,” said Knicks coach Isiah Thomas.
