Trick or Treat Ron Paul?

This could be the strangest ever Halloween joke! Or maybe it is not even related to Halloween and it has been just a coincidence for the event to take place around this date. It hasn’t even been scary! But, there is a little something that makes us associated the recent Ron Paul spam scandal with Halloween. It is the fact that we don’t yet know whether the pro Ron Paul spam email messages that have spread in our inboxes have been launched “to trick or to treat” the congressman and presidential candidate.

But what’s the story in fact? It has all started just a few days ago, when our email accounts’ inboxes have been fueled with the strangest spam messages ever! The spam messages have been nothing else than messages supporting Ron Paul for the Republican Presidential nomination. This appears to be the first time that this kind of spam has got into our email accounts’ inboxes.

The spam messages’ purpose is to apparently support Ron Paul’s campaign. They have been launched towards the people’s email accounts’ inboxes with the help of an army of hijacked computers (or a botnet) from all over the world.

However, the question that arises is whether this “spam presidential campaign’s” real purpose has been really to support the Republican presidential candidate and the Texas congressman or to discredit him. Although the spam messages include only positive statements such as “Ron Paul Stops Iraq War!” or “Vote Ron Paul 2008!”, it is yet not clear if they have been the masterpiece of a real supporter or of a dark, evil mind.
