Celtics Rout Nets to Go 7-0

Kevin Garnett balanced the Celtics offence on Wednesday to rout the New Jersey Nets 91-69 and stay unbeaten. Boston are at their seventh win in a row since the season started, thus matching the franchise's best start in 35 years. The club record for most victories to start a campaign is 14, set by the 1957-58 team.

"We don't want to disrespect the history of this great franchise," Garnett said. "I think we're a lot more in tune to what we're not doing well versus the things we are doing well."

Garnett led the Celtics in scoring with 16-points and hauled eight rebounds. Paul Pierce followed with 15 points, while Ray Allen had 14. This was a good game for the Big Three, but hardly their best so far. However, they received plenty of help from Tony Allen and Rajon Rondo, who scored 13 points apiece, and from center Kendrick Perkins who chipped in with 10.

“They are not about stats. They are just about wins and you can see that out there.” ,” the Nets’ Jason Kidd said as he practically repeated what Celtics Big Three have constantly declared since the beginning of the season.

For the Nets, Richard Jefferson led with 21 points. Jason Kidd had 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for New Jersey, which are at their fourth loss in a row. The Nets couldn’t use Vince Carter, who sprained his ankle in Saturday night's 112-101 loss at home to Boston. This is the second game in which Carter doesn’t play.

The Celtics took an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter and then went on a 6-0 run. Their lead grew to 20 points with 4:53 remaining.

Both teams were a bit off target with their shooting and also handled the ball sloppily in the first half. The Nets made only 36 per cent of their shots, while the Celtics hit 44. Boston turned the ball over ten times in the first half but only four in the second.
