Britney Spears’ 16-year-old sister Jamie-Lynn Spears confirmed to OK! magazine that she is pregnant with her longtime boyfriend’s child, Casey Aldridge, TMZ.com reported.
If you thought Britney was too young when she had her first baby, her sister is breaking her record as she is to become an even younger mom.
In a tell-all interview with OK! magazine set to hit the newsstands on Wednesday, Nickeldeon’s "Zoey 101" star said she was stunned to discover she was pregnant.
"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected," she said. "I was in complete and total shock and so was he."
Although she’s 12 weeks along in her pregnancy, the Louisiana native only confessed to her mother she was expecting, before Thanksgiving, while her older sister had no idea.
"As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody," Jamie-Lynn recalled. "Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."
Just as shocked as everyone else was Jamie’s mom, Lynne Spears, who wasn’t thrilled by the news at all and took her time before showing her daughter the support she needs during this period.
"I didn’t believe it because Jamie Lynn’s always been so conscientious. She’s never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby," Lynn reportedly told OK!.
Asked for her opinion on premarital sex, Jamie admitted to OK! that she isn’t exactly the most suited person to judge.
"I definitely don't think it's something you should do; it's better to wait," she said. "But I can't be judgmental because it's a position I put myself in."
The teenager revealed during her interview that she’s yet to inform Nickelodeon, which carries "Zoey 101," about this latest turn of events, but the network is obviously in the loop now.
"We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation," Nickelodeon said in a statement Tuesday as soon as word of Spears' pregnancy started to get out. "We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."
Also speaking in support of her sister, Britney Spears released a statement saying: "Britney is aware of the news regarding Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy. She wishes her sister nothing but the best and asks for privacy during this time."
