NBC’s “Clash of the Choirs” it’s a mix of uplifting wannabe singers and regional spirit with a doze of sob stories just to keep you, if you are fan of sob stories, in front of your television for four nights in a row.

The show is produced by BBC Worldwide which created “Dancing with the Stars” and its format was created by the Swedish company Friday TV.

“Clash of the Choirs” is about forming five groups of choirs of about 20 people and getting them trained by five stars.

The show sends Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Nick Lachey, Kelly Rowland and Blake Shelton to their hometowns -New Haven, Conn., Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Houston and Oklahoma City-trying to gather 20 singers for their choirs, Reuters informs.

The show premiered on Monday with two hours of footages from the auditions.

Among contestants you could see the case of the father and daughter whose mother is being treated for breast cancer, a 77-year-old lady who enters the “Team Bolton” and is dubbed the Silver Fox, and a victim of the Katrina who signs to Rowland Destiny’s Child song “Survivor.”

After the contestants were chosen, they headed to the studio, where every choir sang in front of a group of judges. The group of judges is made up of four choir leaders. The harshest insult anyone can get is “Excellent!” making the show very fit for the season and family-friendly, according to New York Daily News.

Each group has to perform a pop song or a holiday classic on stage.

Viewers at home can vote their favorite and get to decide who stays in the show.

Last night one group was eliminated and tonight we have to say goodbye to another one.

Tomorrow we will find out which group gets to win the $250,000 check which will be donated to a charity.

“Clash of the Choirs” is filled with nice, likeable people, from the celebrities to the contestants, who are very different, from ages to sizes, and this show allows this kind of things.
