The Wednesday game brought a fifth straight loss for the Nashville Predators, in a confrontation with the Blackhawks, ended 5-2 for the Hawks. It was only the second victory in the past eight games for the Hawks this season, but what a victory that was.

Only 3:02 minutes after the game started, the Hawks took the lead, after Martin Havlat passed to Robert Lang, who scored his 10th game of the season. 2:21 minutes later, Byfuglien, assisted by James Wisniewski and Ben Eager, takes the score to 2-0.

Patrick Sharp pushed the score to 3-0, after Jonathan Toews passed him from behind the blue line, and the first period ended with an impressive advantage for the Hawks.

3:15 minutes into the second half, another Havlat-Robert Lang combination puts the Predators in a uncomfortable position.

It was 4-0 for the Hawks when Perreault was sent to the box for four minutes, within less than 4 minutes from the second period.

It was time for the Predators to make their move and cut some of the Hawks’ wings, and J.P. Dumont did just that 43 seconds later, followed by Radek Bonk a couple of minutes later, and the difference wasn’t that big anymore.

Sharp wasn’t satisfied with the score, and with one minute remaining from the second part, he took the Hawks to a 5-2 ahead of the Predators.

Robert Lang said after the game: “It was one of those games I think we needed,” happy to have had such a good control of the game the whole time. “Every line did something. The guys who are supposed to score did, and everybody else did their job. It’s one of those nights that’s pretty much perfect, and payday was there.”

The author of 2 goals, Patrick Sharp, added: “It was nice to score early, nice to play with the lead for once. I thought we played a very solid three periods of hockey.”
