Giuliani in Good Health, Says Personal Doctor

Rudolph Giuliani’s personal physician released a statement Wednesday declaring the Republican presidential candidate is in good health, following his hospitalization last week.

The Giuliani campaign released a statement on Wednesday from Valentin Fuster, M.D., PH.D., of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, in which he comments on Rudy Giuliani’s recent health concerns and confirms that the former New York mayor is in good condition.

“I have been Rudy Giuliani's personal physician for more than seven years,” the statement begins, as quoted by the Washington Post.

Fuster goes on to say that being informed last week of the “flu-like” symptoms Giuliani presented last Wednesday – “significant headache and fatigue,” he maintained contact with the doctors treating him at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Giuliani’s ailments were not taken lightly, as his plane turned around in midair and he was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he spent the night.

The physician specified that Giuliani underwent the following tests: CT-MRI of the brain, ultrasound of the carotid arteries, and spinal fluid evaluation, which all came back normal.

Fuster himself checked the former mayor upon his return to New York and found that “there was no change in his health status.”

“It is my medical opinion that Rudy Giuliani is in very good health,” the statement concludes.

Being declared healthy and in good condition, the presidential hopeful was back on the campaign trail Wednesday, with scheduled visits in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.

Upon leaving Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Giuliani declared: “I feel great. Take care. Merry Christmas, I'm feeling fine thanks to the hospital. They did a great job.”

His cheerfulness continued this week. “I'm feeling great. I'm feeling terrific,” Reuters quoted him as telling reporters during a visit to an American Legion post in Largo, near St. Petersburg.

Giuliani, 63, overcame prostate cancer in 2000 and Fuster said a PSA test (prostate cancer screening) taken within the past month was “negligible or undetectable.”
