Shocking as it may seem, Britney did not show up for her deposition, scheduled January 2. It is the fifth time the singer failed to appear in her custody case, and her lawyers have had enough. The Trope and Trope lawyers requested permission from the Los Angeles Superior Court to withdraw as Britney’s legal representatives. MTV News reported that sorrel Trope, partner in the law firm, confirmed the withdrawal.

The motion to the Superior Court said that: “There has been a breakdown in communications between the Petitioner [Britney Spears] and Trope and Trope making further representation of her interests impossible”, but an official answer from the court has yet to be announced.

TMZ.com reported that after the singer missed the Wednesday deposition, the lawyers took the decision to change their status as her legal representatives. “Her whole life has become insane and its impossible for anyone to get through to her,” said one of the TMZ.com sources.

The next hearing is reportedly scheduled February 19, which should give Britney plenty of time to find new lawyers, if she plans on showing up in court of course. However, finding a lawyer can also prove to be tricky, as Trope and Trope are not the first to give up after an almost impossible collaboration. Laura Wasser, Spears’ divorce lawyer, was the first to leave Britney in September, followed not long after by Freid & Goldsman lawyers.

After the singer failed to appear for the December deposition, the next custody hearing that was initially set for January 23, when Britney’s lawyers were expected to ask the court to reinstate her custody rights, had to be postponed.

In the meantime, Spears is constantly photographed in compromising positions, either partying hard or checking into hotel rooms with different men, which could only damage her image and interests in the custody battle against her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
