Adobe to Start Shipping Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac in Q2

Only a few days ahead of the popular Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Adobe announced the release date as well as other details about its next generation Photoshop Elements for Mac. The software tool will cost $89 and it will start shipping in the second quarter of 2008; however, until then Adobe will be showing it at Macworld next week.

“Photoshop Elements is not just about editing photos, it’s about helping users make more with their photos. […] It’s about helping people tell their stories,” Mark Dahm, Photoshop Elements’ Senior Product Manager, said about his company’s upcoming product.

Adobe added that its team made Photoshop Elements for Mac more intuitive for users and that it added also some very interesting new features that people will surely enjoy. The Photomerge technology, for example, helps users combine the best facial expressions and body language from up to 10 different photos. This feature will be mainly used by users that shoot a photo of lots of people that keep moving around and are not looking in the right direction.

The new version of Photoshop Elements comes also with the Guided Edit mode, which is aimed specifically at new users. The Guided Edit mode gives new users an explanation of the problem they are about to fix and walks them through the process by simply clicking a button.

Photoshop Elements for Mac will run on Mac OS X 10.4.8 and higher.

Adobe has already starting taking pre-orders.
