OJ Simpson Sent Back To The Slammer

OJ Simpson had his bail revoked and got sent back behind bars after he tried to contact a co-defendant in the Las Vegas armed robbery case, prosecutors said.

The former football player was escorted to the Clark County Detention Center by his North Las Vegas-based bail bondsman, Miguel Pereira, who flew in with Simpson from Miami on an American Airlines flight.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the request of Clark County District Attorney David Roger, who told a judge that Simpson, who is accused of leading an armed robbery back in September from the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Vegas, should be jailed for trying to dissuade the co-defendant from cooperating with authorities.

"I just want, want C.J. (one of Simpson's co-defendants) to know that ... I'm tired of this (expletive)," Simpson is quoted as saying in a transcript that was included in Roger's motion to revoke bail, filed Friday. "Fed up with (expletive) changing what they told me. All right?"

The 60-year-old sports star-turned-actor is in jeopardy of spending the rest of his time until the trial behind bars, if district Court Judge Jackie Glass rules that Simpson violated the conditions of his $125,000 bail.

"We understand he's in the custody of his bail bondsman in Florida right now, and will be brought to Las Vegas for the hearing," said Elana Pitaro, a clerk for Judge Glass.

Simpson, who was freed on a $125,000 bond on September 19, promised a judge he would not try to contact any of the people who were involved in the alleged robbery.

"Don't use e-mail, telephone, mail, passenger pigeon, no whatsoever contact. Do you understand that?" Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure told Simpson during the hearing.

"Yes, sir," Simpson replied.

According to prosecutors, Simpson, identifying himself as "Miguel", telephoned Clarence "CJ" Stewart on November 16 and expressed frustration with Stewart's testimony at a preliminary hearing, court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer said.

"After being admitted to bail with the conditions set above, defendant (Simpson) attempted to dissuade a co-defendant from testifying and cooperating with law enforcement," the court papers read.

Simpson, Stewart and Charles Ehrlich are set to go to trial in April on charges of kidnapping and armed robbery.
