Diana Thought She Was Spied By Dodi's Father, Her Sister Says

According to the testimony given by Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, on Monday, Diana thought that she was spied on by Dodi Fayed’s father, Mohamed Al Fayed.

Lady Sarah testified at the inquest into Diana’s death on Monday saying that on August 29, 1997 she received a phone call from Diana from the yacht Jonikal which she was cruising along with her boyfriend Dodi. Diana told her that she thinks that the yacht is under surveillance.

Lady Sarah said: “She thought the boat was being bugged by Mr. Al Fayed senior,” Time.com reports.

In that conversation Diana also expressed her concern regarding a French newspaper, Le Monde, which quoted her on the problem of the land mines putting her in a critical light with the British government.

About her relationship with Dodi, Lady Sarah said that due to the phone talk she had with her sister that day she could tell that it wasn’t going to last any longer. She told Diana to talk with Dodi about the issue with the newspaper, but Diana told her that it would be “a waste of time.”

Lady Sarah said: "From that I just did not think that the relationship had much longer to go."

She dismissed the rumors about pregnancy or engagement. Also she didn’t remember Dodi ever giving her any gifts.

Lady Sarah also rejected the idea about some missing letters from Diana’s former father-in-law, Prince Philip, which are thought by Al Fayed to be the answer to Diana’s death, or murder as he sees it. Lady Sarah testified that she has never seen those letters.

On the other hand, a detective that investigates Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell for theft says that Lady Sarah told him about the letters to be in a mahogany box in Diana’s desk. This box apparently she gave it to Burrell for safekeeping.

But now that desk is empty and lady Sarah confessed that after Diana’s death she and her mother decided to destroy some documents that might upset Princes Harry and William.

Still she knows that she didn’t destroy any historical documents like a correspondence with Prince Philip.

She said: “My conscience is clear on what I destroyed."
