The father of a 3-month-old boy found murdered near Galveston seawall turned himself in to police in Pennsylvania Friday,
telling them he had killed his child and dumped his body on the road.
The boy was found dead of head trauma Tuesday morning by a
sightseeing Galveston couple on the island’s isolated east end, and police
searched four days for Travis Mullis his father, saying he was the last one
seen with his son.
"Travis Mullis stated that he intentionally killed
3-month-old Alijah Mullis in Galveston,
Texas, on Tuesday, January the
29," Galveston Police Lt. Jorge Trevino said, according to MSNBC.
Mullis, 21, told the police that he had put his baby on
the ground and then stomped him to death, police said.
He has been charged with capital murder in Galveston and his bond has been set at $1
million. He is also charged with enticing an 8-year-old Brazoria County
girl. According to Alvin
police, he took the girl from his mobile home, which he shared with his wife
and the infant, to a playground and pulled her pants down. The police warrant
says the girl started crying and he returned her home. Mullis was accused of
third-degree felony and his bond for this accusation has been set to $50,000.
Police has no idea why the infant was killed. Investigators
are going to talk with anybody who had contact with Mullis. They also have more
questions for the infant’s mother, who spoke with them after the baby’s body
was found last week. However, she is no longer talking to police after getting
a lawyer. Trevino said he could not comment on whether she is considered a
suspect.
