Konami confirmed today a previous rumor. The gaming company
will release a new compilation base on its famous franchise, Metal Gear Solid.
Called Metal Gear Solid: Esential Collection, the new release will include the
initial game Metal Gear Solid, released for PlayStation and director's cuts of
the two PS2 incarnations, which are Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal
Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
Also, the games will be delivered in a commemorative package
with artwork by renowned Metal Gear Solid character designer Yoji Shinkawa.
The price of Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection will
be $30, and according to Konami, it will ship right ahead the release of Metal Gear
Solid 4, the latest title of the franchise.
Konami claims that Metal Gear Solid 4, a PlayStation 3
exclusive, offers a totally new concept and situation, resulting in the
toughest Metal Gear infiltration mission ever devised.
The game is set after the events of MGS2 and players will
reprise the role of top secret agent Solid Snake with appearances by characters
throughout the MGS series. Also, Konami promised Metal Gear Solid 4 will offer
online capabilities.
