Lineup for 2008 Bonnaroo Music Fest Announced

This year’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will regale music lovers with performances from the likes of Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Kanye West and about 100 more bands, the event’s organizers announced Wednesday.

The seventh annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will take place on June 12-15 in Manchester, Tennessee, and treat music lovers with artists of all sorts and for all tastes.

Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson and Kanye West are headlining the music fest, along with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, My Morning Jacket, Phil Lesh & Friends, Willie Nelson and the Allman Brothers Band.

Rumors of a Led Zeppelin appearance have been dispelled, after months of hope and speculation on the fans’ side. Instead, an all-female Zeppelin cover band called Lez Zeppelin is set to take the stage.

Other artists include, in no particular order, B.B. King, M.I.A., Drive-By Truckers, the Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend, Levon Helm, Death Cab for Cutie, Sigur Ros, Broken Social Scene, Gogol Bordello, Aimee Mann and Jakob Dylan.

Bonnaroo's Comedy Tent will host Janeane Garofalo, Zach Galifianakis, Mike Birbiglia, Jim Norton, Brian Posehn and David Cross.

The summer festival, held on a 700-acre farm, will include more than 100 bands and 20 comedians performing on 13 stages, as well as art, activities, workshops and vendors, concert organizers Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment promise.

Tickets go on sale exclusively through Bonnaroo.com on Feb. 16 at noon.

“I actually feel like it's one of our strongest lineups to date and it strengthens our diversity within our programming,” Superfly Productions president Jonathan Mayers told Billboard.com.

“I know we still have a lot more to add, too, so I'm excited about it and feel like we're going to have a very successful year.”

A very successful year it could be indeed, as 2007 saw Bonnaroo crowned as the top-grossing North American festival, with an estimated $18 million in ticket sales, Billboard.com reports.

Bonnaroo is a three-time winner of the Top Festival award at the annual Billboard Touring Awards, the website adds.
