Rapper The Game Ordered To 60 Days In Jail

After pleading no contest to a felony firearm charge, US rapper known as the Game, got sentenced to 60 days behind bars.

The platinum-selling artist, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, was accused of pulling a firearm in a school zone in February 2007 while two other charges, making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a peace officer, were dismissed under a plea agreement. He was immediately sentenced by a Los Angeles County judge to 60 days in jail, 150 hours of community service and three years probation, after entering his no-contest plea. He was given credit for the two days he already served toward the jail time.

Early last year, the 28-year-old artist reportedly got angry and punched a player on a basketball field during a game which was played at a South Los Angeles school ground. He then pulled a gun from his red Cadillac Escalade and threatened to kill the man.
In a recent interview with Monsta magazine, Game admitted he would be pleading no contest in the case. The rapper also said he felt he was being targeted because of his celebrity.

“The crazy part about this is that I've had guns before in my life,” Game told the mag. “But this time, I didn't have a gun. And because one person said I had a gun and coaxed his homies into saying that I had a gun, I'm in a predicament where I'm asking, 'Do I want to spend another million dollars to fight this trial, so who knows what jury's gonna come in and say I'm guilty? Or do I want to save my money, go sit down for four months and accept this felony they're trying to give me for no reason?' “

Also in September, The Game, a protege of fellow hip-hop star 50 Cent, was given a conditional discharge at a court in Manhattan, New York, for impersonating a police officer in 2006.

The Game, who grew up in Compton, was arrested last May by Los Angeles police officers executing a search warrant at his Glendale home.

The rapper’s debut CD, “The Documentary,” featuring the hit singles, “How We Do” and “Hate It or Love It,” earned him two Grammy Award nominations. His third album, tentatively called “L.A.X,” is due for release later this year.
