South Korea’s Singer Rain Becoming A Hollywood Star

South Korea’s pop star Jung Ji-hoon, also known as Rain, is going to play a leading role in a Hollywood film, Variety Asia announces. The 26-year-old singer is famous across Asia, being called the “Justin Timberlake of Asia” because of the way he dances.

Rain is not at his first role. He also had a leading role in the 2006 South Korean movie “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK.” directed by Park Chan-wook. The singer and actor is also going to be seen in the Wachowski brothers’ movie “Speed Racer.”

Larry and Andy Wachowski, along with Joel Silver, are producing “Ninja Assassin,” the action movie in which Rain will play the leading role. The film will be directed by James McTeigue. McTeigue was also the assistant director on “The Matrix” movies.

The “Ninja Assassin” project will be shot from March to July this year, in Berlin. J. Tune Entertainment, Rain’s agency did not offer many details concerning the movie. However, some upcoming activities of the artist were revealed.

Rain is going to record a new version of the seventies hit “Kungfu Fighting” that is going to be used for the DreamWorks animation “Kungfu Panda.” In addition, the singer is going to have many music events tied to the Beijing Olympics.
