Apple Sued Over iMac's Lack Of 'Millions Of Colors'

Apple goes to court again, as Los Angeles law firm Kabateck Brown Kellner LLP filed a suit against the Cupertino-based company for deceptively marketing the 20-inch iMac. The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California in San Jose, says iMac customers have been deliberately let to believe that the iMac monitors were superior to previous generations and were capable of “millions of colors” display.

The infamous monitors of 20 and 24-inch, which were unveiled in August last year, were supposed to display “millions of colors at all resolutions” when in fact they were only capable of a 262,144-color display. Kabatech Brown Kellner LLP said in its lawsuit that Apple is taking advantage of its customers by promising one thing and offering something else.

The lawsuit also referred to the fact that Apple has been promoting its latest generation of monitors as far superior to older ones, when in fact they were actually inferior to them: “Apple is duping its customers into thinking they’re buying ‘new and improved’ when in fact they’re getting stuck with ‘new and inferior,’ “said Brian Kabatech, Managing Partner at the law firm.

Apple was also accused of trying to play “the good guy” when in fact what they do is deceive customers, the lawsuit said. The Cupertino-based company is accused of putting profits beyond customer satisfaction: “Our goal is to help those customers who were deceived and make sure Apple tells the truth in the future,” the law firm said.

Kabatech Brown Keller LLP is known for its lawsuits against big names in the United States, against which they’ve managed to win hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of their customers. Apple refused to make any comments on the litigation.
