Sony Revamps Playstation Store This Month

Just days after it announced that its Playstation Network, which includes the Playstation Store, could have been hacked, Sony has said it will revamp its online store this month. The company claimed that a 2007 survey found users wanted a better interface and easier navigation, and Sony has now taken the decision to act upon its users' desires.

For example, some users were annoyed by strangely mapped buttons such as the circle button on the controller, which acted as "Exit" not as "Back" which most people have expected.

Weekly updates to the store will cease until the new version will be rolled out, around the middle of April. The relaunch will also bring about new content like the highly anticipated racer Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

"The revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PLAYSTATION Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation," Sony said in a statement. "The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorization and a dynamic new user interface."

Just days ago, Sony has found a vulnerability which in theory could have allowed a hacker to gain unauthorized access to personal information on the Sony Playstation Store through PCs, a content download service of the company's Playstation Network. The security flaw, which has been already fixed, allowed a potential attacker to change a user's password and thus gain access to his or her account.

The Playstation Store through PC was unveiled by Sony last year in November.
