Naomi Campbell is
learning to deal with her anger – while on London’s
Heathrow Airport, the British supermodel model
did not throw a mobile phone but
instead reportedly chose to spit at a police officer who dared to upset her.
Thursday’s incident at Heathrow
Airport – which concluded with Naomi
Campbell being escorted off a U.
S. bound flight – comprised of an upsetting
situation over luggage which determined the supermodel to use her own saliva as
a projectile, reports E! Online.
Campbell had boarded a flight
to Los Angeles
to attend a memorial service when she was informed that one of her pieces of
luggage was missing. This infuriated her and police had to escort a “ranting
and screaming” Campbell
from British Airways’ first-class lounge at the airport’s newly opened Terminal
5, British paper The Sun reveals.
She was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer
and later released on bail.
“She was released on bail shortly after midnight, and is due
to return on bail,” Scotland Yard said in a statement, reports Reuters UK.
This is not the first time when luggage has been misplaced
at Terminal 5 but it does appear to be the first time that someone spits out of
frustration at the nuisance – at least the first time a celebrity does so.
Hundreds of flights have been cancelled and tens of
thousands of bags have gone missing at Terminal 5, according to Reuters, which
have resulted in losses amounting to 16 million pounds for the terminal.
Campbell’s spokeswoman explained that the 37-year-old
supermodel learned that one of two bags she had checked in had gone missing and
that “BA decided to resolve this by insisting she leave the flight and then
called the police to forcibly eject her from the flight.
“She was taken to the Heathrow Police Station and released
on police bail. So far as we are aware, BA have still failed to offer any
explanation as to why her bag went missing at Terminal 5,” the spokeswoman added.
Campbell
has a well publicized history of violent outbursts that culminated with her being
sentenced to perform community service last year. After throwing a mobile phone
at a housemaid when she could not find a pair of jeans, Naomi mopped floors for
five days and was ordered to attend anger management classes.
Mobile phones have been Naomi’s weapon of choice in a number
of other incidents.
