Weiland Rejoins the Stone Temple Pilots

Singer Scott Weiland, who left the band Velvet Revolver this week, due to continuous bickering with the other members of the band, reunited with his former band, the Stone Temple Pilots, who are planning a 65-date North American summer tour.

The tour, which will be the first for the band in nearly eight years is supposed to start on May 17, with the band performing at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH, and will finish in November 2008.

Stone Temple Pilots also plan to revive their website and launch a fan club program that will grant members easy access to tickets for the band’s tour.

Around two weeks ago, Scott Weiland made the announcement of his imminent departure during a Velvet Revolver concert in Glasgow, Scotland, when he told the crowd they were witnessing something special, namely the last-ever Velvet Revolver tour, MTV reports on its website.

The rest of the band, guitarists Slash and Dave Kushner, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum, released a statement confirming the split, explaining that they could no more tolerate Weiland’s “increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems.”

“This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn’t 100% committed to either,” Slash said in the statement.

Weiland has denied Slash’s accusations, calling them just an excuse to cover up the truth.

The Velvet Revolver members told RollingStone.com that they were relieved Weiland has finally left the band.

"Basically, we're just excited about finding someone else and moving on," Slash said.

He also mentioned that the band has found a new musician to work with, but he didn’t want to reveal his name yet.
