Britney Spears Is 'Welcome' To Return On Sitcom

Producers of CBS' show "How I Met Your Mother," in which Britney Spears made a brief appearance several days ago, said the pop singer is always welcome back anytime.

Ten days after "How I Met Your Mother" received its highest ratings ever, with more than 10million viewers checking out her guest spot, rumors were swirling that the troubled star will make future appearances on the CBS show.

"We always said, 'You know, if her character pops, we’ll bring her back,'" the CBS sitcom’s executive producer Carter Bays told the Associated Press. "I thought she was great. I was very proud of that episode."

The 26-year-old singer was featured on the March 24 episode as Abby, a receptionist to a dermatologist's office who develops a crush on Ted, the main character played by Josh Radnor.

Speaking about Britney's presence on the set, Bays said it was surreal "totally weird. I think we have a very, like, kind of Midwestern homey vibe here on the show, and it was strange to suddenly have helicopters circling," he explained.

Throughout the past week, numerous reports cited inside sources from the show claiming Britney's return depended entirely on her "availability."
