A GMG Airlines plane flying from Malaysia to Bangladesh was forced to make an emergency landing, after a man bearing a knife threatened the passengers.

The plane which had taken off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was carrying about 70 passengers, of whom none was hurt in the incident, said police Lt. Gen. Watcharapol Prasanrachakij, according to the Associated Press.

The plane’s pilot landed about 10 a.m. at Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, after one of the passengers took out a fruit knife, causing panic on board.

Chana U-Sathaporn, president of Airports of Thailand, announced in a press conference that the incident was not a case of terrorism and the pilot had decided to land as a precautionary measure.

After the plane landed, authorities got on board of the plane and took out the trouble maker, who was identified as a Bangladeshi citizen. After questioning him, police declared him mentally unstable.

The GMG flight remained in Bangkok for a couple of hours, before continuing its journey to the destination.

The attacker and some of the passengers were treated for minor injuries.

When questioned, aviation officials in Kuala Lumpur could not explain how the man could board on the plane carrying a knife.
