MySpaceTV Goes International With ShineReveille Partnership

MySpace announced in Cannes, France a new partnership with ShineReveille International meant to expand MySpaceTV farther than the U.S. borders, for the distribution of its original content in various forms. Travis Katz, Managing Director of International for MySpace, gave the news during his keynote at the social networking seminar.

“MySpace provides the creative community with a launch pad to virally test and distribute content to the world’s largest focus group,” said Katz. “MySpace TV has quickly become Hollywood’s digital playground and our relationship with ShineReveille opens up the globe to MySpace’s international content creators.”

What this partnership will do is allow ShineReveille to exclusively sell MySpace content to the media, while MySpace keeps its distribution rights for the United States. The exact terms of the financial deal have not been disclosed so far.

Through the new partnership, shows like “Quarterlife” and “Roommates” will become available outside U.S., Travis Katz said during his keynote.

“MySpaceTV is a proven fertile ground for emerging creative approaches and techniques,” said Alex Mahon, Shine Group President, in a statement. “There is an appetite to create versions of successful online content that can work for the traditional television platform … This partnership allows this to be taken to the next level.”

MySpace, the biggest social-networking site, launched in June last year its global video platform, MySpaceTV after it has seen an explosive video growth driven by dozens of industry content partnerships and user interface changes.

ShineReveille International is a member of the Shine Group, which includes Shine, Reveille, Kudos, Firefly and Princess Productions. Shine purchased the American production company Reveille last year.
