In the most recent video of Ashlee Simpson since the whole pregnancy frenzy broke loose, the singer is shot by paparazzi as she arrives at the JFK airport.
In the video posted on www.extratv.warnerbros.com, she vaguely and smilingly tells reporters that "Everyone's got rumors" and "I've been pregnant for a year I guess."
On Monday, reports emerged that the younger Simpson is expecting her first child with now fiancée, Pete Wentz, just days after the two announced their engagement.
Reacting to the rumors, the Fall Out Boy bassist immediately denied the news telling MTV that not only is his new fiancé not pregnant, but that the tabloid reports that she is pregnant are like a witch hunt.
"There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood," he wrote in an email to MTV News shortly after Us Weekly and OK! magazines reported that Simpson was pregnant. "This is all news to me. I can’t wait for the story about how I’m really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. … I mean really, this is crazy. … I mean we’re engaged, that’s true, and happy about it."
Leaving no doubt as to his position on the matter, when asked again if he was denying reports that Simpson is pregnant, he replied, "Yeah."
Both Us Weekly and OK! citing "unnamed sources" claimed that they've "confirmed" that the 23-year-old singer is indeed pregnant with Wentz's child, offering as proof an account of Simpson dealing with a "fierce bout of what appeared to be morning sickness" during a lunch at Malibu's Chart House restaurant.
However, none of the couple's publicists confirmed or denied the reports, referring instead only to their engagement news.
"We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple," a spokesperson for the couple told Us. "Beyond that there is nothing to say."
