Hearing on Britney's Psychiatric Evaluation in LA

A hearing has just ended in Los Angeles which focused on the psychiatric evaluation of Britney Spears, in order to determine whether more of her privileges regarding her children should be restored. LA Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon presided and Kevin Federline arrived first accompanied by lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan and his team.

Britney arrived after her custody lawyer Stacey Phillips, with both parents and attorney Blair Berk. The media was removed from the hearing soon after it started. The next court date has been scheduled for July 15 and no details were given when the hearing was over, just after 12 p.m.

The AP only reported that "a change has been made to Britney Spears' child custody arrangement following a low-key hearing," with no further details given.

It has been nearly three months since Britney Spears lost custody of her two children to former husband Kevin Federline, after an especially erratic display of behavior. She currently has monitored visitation rights with sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, several times a week. She has no overnight privileges.

The troubled singer has been under the conservatorship of her father since her second release from UCLA Medical Center in February. Having her family take care of her seems to have been benefic for Britney, as her public appearances have been noticeably calm and discrete. She has been seldom photographed and usually in the presence of her mother or father.

Last week, she visited her hometown of Kentwood, La., for her younger sister Jamie Lynn’s baby shower. People magazine reports this was Britney’s first return to Kentwood in more than a year. Father Jamie Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallet are to maintain legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing.

Despite personal struggles, Britney has not relinquished her career. A March 24 cameo appearance on CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” as a receptionist named Abby will be followed by a second portrayal of the character in an episode that airs on May 12.
