The Wait Is Over: Apple To Deliver 3G iPhone In June

The wait will be over soon: iPhone 3G is just one month away, actually, less than one month, as Apple is expected to announce the new model during the WWDC keynote on June 9th, Gizmodo  reports, citing familiar sources with the company. But it’s not the announcement everyone needs, but the iPhone itself, which will reportedly become available immediately after the launch, and not later this year, as it has been speculated.

A few weeks ago, Fortune speculated that AT&T is going to rebate or subsidy $200 for the customers willing to sign a two-year contract and that the price for the two-year commitment will be of $199. In addition to that, the same source reported that Apple will launch two versions of the 3G iPhone, an 8 GB model for $399 and a 16 GB model for $499.

More Gizmodo rumors: in Spain, the 3G iPhone will arrive on June 18, the day of the grand opening of Telefonica’s megastore in Madrid; other countries in Europe will have similar launch dates. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed, but it all seems pretty close to what everyone wants: a brand new iPhone, with improved features and immediate availability.

Apple said it still plans on selling 10 million iPhones by the end of the year. If we think of it, a late launch date would be bad for business. Considering that competition gets tough, with Palm and RIM’s plan to overthrow the iPhone from its top stop, and the fact that Apple already unveiled partnerships with carriers all over the world, a 3G model can’t be far.

Apple is currently expanding its market all over the world, and over the past months, it went on from an exclusive deal with one carrier to deals with European carriers, who brought the iPhone in U.K., Germany and France in November 2007, and to Ireland and Australia in March 2008. Other deals are on the way, as Vodafone, SingTel and other carriers revealed agreements with Apple to introduce the iPhone to Australia, Europe, Africa and Asia.
