Kucinich Files 35 Impeachment Articles against Bush

Representative Dennis Kucinich, Democrat-Ohio, defied the chiefs of his party on Monday by preparing 35 articles of impeachment against the United States President, George W. Bush. Most of those articles are related to United States’ war launched by Bush in Iraq.

Kucinich, a former presidential candidate, presented his intention to propose more than two dozen articles against Bush on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. He accused the current U.S. President of implementing a "calculated and wide-ranging strategy" to mislead U.S. citizens and Congress into believing that Iraq posed an imminent threat to our nation and that Saddam Hussein had ties with the 9/11 attacks.

However, the impeachment attempt against Bush isn’t expected to have much success. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly underlined the fact that such an attempt would be divisive and most likely unsuccessful.

Kucinich had a similar attempt in April 2007 when he tried to impeach Vice president Dick Cheney. The outspoken Iraq war critic failed to move that resolution forward.

The White House has been denying numerous charges coming from many Democrats and civil liberties groups, who accused Bush of providing misleading information before the 2003 Iraq invasion.

The impeachment resolution also accuses the Bush administration of endangering 9/11 first responders and misleading the public about climate change.
