Wednesday, four Palestinians in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip were killed by Israeli forces.

According to Reuters, Palestinian medical workers said that one 9-year-old-girl was among the four victims. Apparently, Israel sends on a regular basis ground and air forces to effectuate raids on Gaza because it considers it necessary in order to stop the cross-border rocket and other bomb attacks.

The girl’s body or what was left of it was found in a house in the Qarara village. Hamas officials said that Israeli forced shot a Hamas gunman and a civilian while an Israeli air attack killed the fourth person, also a Palestinian civilian.

It looks like the air strike, which occurred in the northern Gaza Strip, was set in order to eliminate the Palestinians who had planned a mortar bombs attack against Israel.

According to an Israeli military spokesman, the attack near the town of Khan Younis was against militants who had set a special area in order to try and launch rockets into Israel. The spokesman also said that he didn’t know that there had been casualties.

The Gaza strip came under the control of Islamist Hamas movement a year ago. Egypt is known for its attempts to end the attacks that occur on the Israel-Gaza border.  Wednesday, Israel agreed Wednesday with Egypt but Israel's Security Cabinet said that their army was informed to be prepared in case that the ceasefires efforts failed.
