It’s Edward Norton’s face. And it’s still scary, but with
more expressions.
First of all, I don’t think that Edward Norton picks his
roles without first analyzing the script. Second of all, he is a good actor
and, even if there are times when a movie in which he stars isn’t overall
brilliant, he still manages to save it with his performance.
We all remember the 2003 Hulk, especially director Ang
Lee. It’s ok, we let it pass. There are
some new failures on the big screen, so we’re not going to go through this
again. Moreover, the fact that the movie wasn’t good is a good excuse for
Marvel Studios to give their best shot and resurrect the green monster.
So, the story is basically the same. Bruce Banner is a
scientist who turns into an incredibly big, green monster, every time he is
under some kind of emotional stress. This condition of his is caused by the
fact that he was exposed to Gamma Rays. In search of a cure for his condition,
Banner is currently in Brazil, studying yoga in order to learn some self
control. But when Gen. Thunderbolt Ross finds him, he turns into Hulk and
escapes. Crossing Mexico, Banner arrives in Virginia and gets in touch with
Betty Ross, the general’s daughter and also the only woman he has ever loved.
Meanwhile, Blonsky, one of Ross’ soldiers, wants to have the same powers as
Hulk, in order to fight him. So, he suffers a transformation and becomes the
bad guy, I mean monster, Abomination.
So, there we have Edward Norton who plays Bruce Banner,
Liv Tyler who plays his girlfriend, Betty Ross, and her father, played by William
Hurt. The cast only is definitely a reason to go see the movie. Let’s not
forget Tim Roth who plays an “abominable” part, impersonating the bad guy or, actually,
the bad creature. Well, so far so good, as the action is pretty catchy and the
characters give the movie more credibility.
When I say credibility, I’m not referring to the subject-a
man who turns into a green monster- I’m simply saying that, as fiction, “The Incredible Hulk” has a consistent story.
Although he initially turned out the offer to direct the
movie, Louis Leterrier changed his mind and remodeled the 2003 version.
The movie is clearly an action movie and, as it is based on comics, it’s not real. But that’s the fun with movies, they don’t all
have to be real and serious. Some of
them are there to entertain and that’s what “The Incredible Hulk” does. I’m
sure it will be fun to watch. And I’m also sure that Edward Norton will make it
even better. Even Robert Downey Jr. also has a cameo in this movie.
Even Norton said:
“I'll be in the back of some theatre on opening weekend watching it,” reported
BBC.
The film, which opens Friday, is PG-13 rated for action
violence.
