MySpace’s Makeover Only Four Days Away

On Friday, News Corp's MySpace announced its plan to completely transform the website starting next week. The global redesign is to be applied in order to enlarge the range of potential users and to boost their engagement on the networking site.

This was said to be the largest scale Internet relaunch ever recorded. Pretty much everything will be modified: the website’s home page, the profile editing options, the search and navigation, as well as facilities of the MySpaceTV player. Additional features and changes are to come later on this summer.

"This is more than a face-lift; we're changing the way people interact with the site and with brands," MySpace said. It then added that a major advertiser was brought aboard for the U.S. MySpace home page. June 18 was announced to be the date for the first and most important relaunch stage.

MySpace has around 110 million users worldwide and it is said to be the most trafficked U.S. website. Company reports show that about 300,000 users sign up daily.

This doesn’t seem to be enough though, and continous efforts are being made in order to improve the website’s services. In April, MySpace Music was unveiled by company officials.

MySpace announced that it would work alongside three of the biggest recording labels out there: Universal, Warner and Sony BMG. Through MySpace, the three companies are offering customers online music catalogues, ad-free music and video streaming as well as paid MP3 downloads.
