Up to the point when
this article was being written, 3,245,674 had tuned in to see the e video
of a girl hula hooping in her underpants on the Wii Balance Board posted on YouTube.
Apparently the video,
entitled “Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit” was captured by
Giovanny Gutierrez, a 30 year-old advertising executive from Miami. He said it was his
own idea and Nintendo was not involved in the creation of the video.
It just so happens
that the young girl’s name, Lauren Bernat, coincides with that of a mild-tempered
librarian. Since the video was uploaded, the latter has received numerous
Facebook requests from people wanting to get to know the "Wii Fit Girl."
The library Lauren,
aged 22, admits she does look a bit like the YouTube Lauren and is afraid that
a potential employer who would decide to look her up on the Internet, may get
the wrong idea about her and choose not to hire her for a serious job. For the
time being, she is working in a New
York library for teenagers.
As this is a simple
case of two people having the same name, there isn’t any legal action that
could be taken. Her best chance would probably be to contact the person who
uploaded the video and kindly ask for its removal.
Meanwhile, the clip is
getting more and more page views and on Facebook, a group called Lauren
Bernat's Fan Club has already been created.
As for the real Lauren
Bernat, she will appear in MTV’s TRL show on Tuesday.
