Amid growing rumors of a divorce which is threatening his marriage to Madonna, Guy Ritchie made the London – New York trip on Monday to meet his wife who is currently in the Big Apple working for her upcoming tour.

The director mostly known for movies such as “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch”, entered the Upper West Side building at about 6:30 p.m. escorted by two bodyguards. The couple owns an apartment in the building.

Rumors about their failing seven-year marriage spread over the paste few weeks and the fact that the two spent the weekend apart fueled the speculation. The 49-year-old super star singer was in New York rehearsing for her tour and spending time with her three children, while Ritchie, 39, was in London. Neither was wearing wedding bands during this period.

Madonna kicks off her 27-date world tour in Cardiff on 23 August.

However, the fact that Madonna didn’t wore her wedding band shouldn’t mean anything according to the singer’s representative, Liz Rosenberg, who said the diva has rarely worn a wedding band over the past six years.

“There’s no secret message about that," said Rosenberg.

It doesn’t seem to be a very good year for Madonna. Her marriage turned sour and will most likely end who knows how. Moreover, the pop icon’s childhood home in the Detroit suburb of Rochester Hills burned to the ground in what police investigators believe was an arson attack.

The Detroit-native pop icon has reportedly contacted Paul McCartney's divorce lawyer last week to help her divorce Rithcie. According to the Times of London, she talked with Fiona Shackleton, nicknamed the "steel magnolia" for her tough ways in the courtroom, the same divorce lawyer who helped Sir Paul McCartney keep his wealth in almost one piece after divorcing Heather Mills.

Madonna and Ritchie did not sign a prenuptial agreement so a 50-50 split of assets is possible.
