New Guns’n Roses Track Debut On Rock Band 2 Game

Harmonix and MTV Games announced Monday in a press release that “Shackler’s Revenge,” a track from the permanently delayed Guns N’ Roses LP “Chinese Democracy,” would be making its worldwide debut as part of the anticipated sequel game “Rock Band 2,” scheduled to be released for the Xbox 360 platform this September.

The game will feature 80 songs all constituted of original master recordings. Bob Dylan will also be making his video game debut with "Tangled Up in Blue," while AC/DC signed an exclusive deal for use of their music, including the arena anthem, "Let There Be Rock."

The “Rock Band music platform,” as companies’ executives like to call it, has registered substantial success since its release in last fall, moving upwards of 2.5 million game units (priced at $169) and selling over 15 million downloaded tracks (at $1.99 a pop). By comparison, competitor “Guitar Hero” from Activision, which lately announced a full-band version of the game called “Guitar Hero World Tour, has produced sales of more than $1 billion in not more than three years. However, in the area of downloadable content, “Rock Band” tends to be the market-leading player, promising that by the end of the year, its music library will contain more than 500 tracks, making it the biggest register in game history.
