Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake had a rather unusual encounter at the US "Shrek" premiere, the third installment of the animated series, and even kissed, triggering rumors of a possible reconciliation.
The two who dated for four years, broke up earlier this year, during the winter holidays. "Shrek the Third"s premiere is the first major media event at which they’ve been photographed together since the split.
As they arrived separately, and kept their distance from each other throughout the whole thing, Diaz and Timberlake showed everyone they’re comfortable with each other when they they had to pose for the cast photograph, sharing a hug and a kiss.
"If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I'll have something to say to them," Timberlake, who voices would-be king Arthur, told this month's GQ magazine.
Diaz, who borrowed her voice to Princess Fiona, made her way down the green carpet in a pinkish Chanel dress, looking gorgeous and keeping close to her co-star, Mike Myers.
Timberlake, who was behind, said the green carpet reminded him of a favorite: golf. But "I don't think even I'd play golf in this heat," said Timberlake, wearing a sweater jacket and tie. "And I'm not going to talk about my handicap."
"Shrek the Third," one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, finds Shrek as a possible heir to the land of Far, Far Away, when his father-in-law falls ill, only he doesn’t want to take the "job."
"I think they've incorporated all the characters more," Eddie Murphy, who plays Donkey, said.
"The story isn't so much Shrek and Donkey and Fiona. It's everybody, everybody's got funny stuff to do. But what's remained consistent is the sweetness: a sweet little message in the back, and what's in the front is very, very funny and inventive," he added.
