Harry Potter’s World Comes Together In New Theme Park

Fans of the boy wizard will soon be able to enjoy a new dimension of Harry Potter’s world, real life rides and attractions inspired from the best-selling books, including the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade village, Universal Studios announced Thursday.

The first theme park which will be called “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter," is set to open in late 2009 in Orlando, Florida, officials said, as a joint venture between Warner Bros Entertainment and Universal Orlando Resort.

"The plans I've seen look incredibly exciting, and I don't think fans of the books or films will be disappointed," author of the Harry Potter books J.K. Rowling, who gave her blessing for the park, said. She has been working with a creative team to make sure the park resembles the books and films.

The people behind "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" said they intend to "create the world's first immersive Harry Potter themed environment."

Besides the rides, the park within a park will feature the key locations and figures from the books that will provide "an opportunity to experience the magical world of Harry Potter first hand."

Barry Meyer, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment, said: "Over the years we've received thousands of letters from fans around the world wishing they could visit Hogwarts (School) and the wonderful locations described in each of J.K. Rowling's beloved stories."
