After All, Murdoch Maybe Will Buy Wall Street Journal

The owners of Wall Street Journal, the Bancroft family may consider selling one of the US’ largest newspapers in terms of circulation and a leader in financial news, Wall Street Journal.

In a statement issued late Thursday in Boston, the Bancroft Family Directors said they would meet Rupert Murdoch, the owner of News Corp, for discussion.

"After a detailed review of the business of Dow Jones and the evolving competitive environment in which it operates, the family has reached consensus that the mission of Dow Jones may be better accomplished in combination or collaboration with another organization, which may include News Corporation," the statement reads.

It is quite an unexpected decision after two weeks ago, the Bancroft family rejected a a 5-billion-dollar made by Murdoch.

According to the statement, the Bancroft family would meet with News Corporation to determine whether it would be possible "to ensure the level of commitment to editorial independence, integrity and journalistic freedom that is the hallmark of Dow Jones."

The Dow Jones & Company has been owned by the Bancrofts since 1902.
