After defeating Detroit Pistons, the Cleveland Cavaliers are
in the NBA finals. The Cavaliers pulled away for a 98-82 home victory, thanks
to Daniel Gibson and LeBron James.
Daniel Gibson scored 20 of his career-high 31 points in the
second-half stretch and James had 20 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists for Cleveland.
Celveland Cavaliers will meet the three-time champion San
Antonio Spurs. Game One is Thursday in San
Antonio.
"This is definitely a big step in Cleveland Cavaliers
history," James said.
Gibson, a second-round pick in last year's draft, averaged
just 4.6 points during the season but he has received increased playing time in
the postseason.
"Tonight I was 'Wow' on Daniel like I was 'Wow' on
LeBron," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "That was 'Bronesque."
"Daniel Gibson hit every big shot," Pistons coach
Flip Saunders said. "He just continued to make big shots."
Coach Mike Brown spent three years on Gregg Popovich's staff
at San Antonio,
but he is determined to win despite that friendship. "I'm in it to win
it," he said.
