Sean Connery Won’t Be Indy’s Dad Again

Sean Connery has refused to participate in the forthcoming Indiana 4 movie, after months of speculation on his return as Harrison Ford’s character’s father.

Ford, as well as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas expressed their hope that Connery would join the cast. To no avail though, as the septuagenarian actor prefers to stick to his retirement.

Connery, 76, posted a message on the Indiana Jones website of studio Lucasfilm Thursday saying he had considered the offer and that his decision is to turn it down. Connery added that he considers himself retired from acting since 2005.

The legendary Scottish actor played Indiana Jones’ father in 1989 in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,” which was the third installment in the series starring Harrison Ford as an adventurous archeologist.

The much-anticipated fourth film in the series is set to start filming in June, with Spielberg directing and Lucas producing. The cast includes Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf.

The three films in the Indiana Jones series have risen to cult status and have sold tickets worth an astounding $1.2 billion around the world.

The first installment was released in 1981. Harrison Ford has jokingly commented that he is not sure whether the leather pants still fit him, but the hat certainly will, he promised.
