The fourth installment in the “Die Hard” series has arrived; almost two decades after the first film, Bruce Willis returns, older yet just as heroic as ever.
LAPD police officer John McClane managed to save the world in “Die Hard”(1988), “Die Hard 2” (1990) and “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (1995). He’s here to do it again, in 20th Century Fox’s “Die Hard or Live Free.”
Released on June 27 nationwide, the film co-stars Timothy Olyphant (“Deadwood”) as the very evil guy, Justin Long as a young genius hacker under McClane’s protection and Maggie Q, also on the side of the bad guys.
McClane has divorced his wife in the meantime and grown apart from his daughter Lucy. He is nevertheless still passionate about his police work. He now finds himself in the middle of a computer terrorist attack.
The old-school cop is typically not intimidated by his technology-savvy opponents and manages to outdo them with the help of his computer geek protégé, who becomes an ally.
Directed by Len Wiseman (“Underworld” and “Underworld: Evolution”), “Die Hard or Live Free” (released as “Die Hard 4.0” outside North America and Australia), is produced by John McTiernan, Arnold Rifkin and Bruce Willis himself.
The script was penned by Mark Bomback (“Constantine”) and David Marconi (“Enemy of the State”).
MPAA rating: PG-13. Runs 130 minutes.
