Former COD Developers Unveil New FPS Game

Spark Unlimited, the developers behind the outstanding Call of Duty: Finest Hour, have announced a new mythical-FPS game for all major gaming platforms, which should be out next year in spring.

Spark Unlimited is the original developer of the first game in the Call of Duty franchise, which appeared in 2004 for PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox, and gained numerous praises from both critics and gamers. They are also collaborating with Codemasters to bring Fall of Liberty out in November 2007, an “intense and cinematic” next-generation first person shooter for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

However, despite busying themselves with alternative World War II games, the guys Spark Unlimited have apparently enough time to work at other projects, like the recently unveiled Legendary: The Box.

Of course, we’re talking about a cross-platform FPS (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC) whose plot revolves around the mythical evils that emerge out of Pandora’s Box in the ancient Greek history.

A skilful thief is lured into stealing an ancient box which he (what a surprise…) quickl yopens, curious like a child to find out what evils lurk inside…

Of course, lots of bad creatures pop up and invade the modern day, attacking helicopters and generally being naughty. The thief’s main mission now is to put them back in the box and (of course…) save the day, the humankind and so on.

“Like most developers, we’ve always had a dream game that we’ve secretly been working on,” said Craig Allen, CEO of Spark Unlimited. “We’ve made a name for ourselves with World War II first-person shooters, but Legendary: The Box is our labor of love. It’s a thrill to work with Gamecock; they want to see the game completed exactly as we envision it.”

“If there is one genre that needs a shot in the arm, it’s the first-person shooter,” said Harry Miller, Head of Development of Gamecock Media Group. “I’m inspired by where they’re taking the genre.”

Legendary: The Box will make its way on the stores’ shelves in Spring 2008.
