Spacey Is Lex Luthor Once More in Superman Sequel

Academy Award winning actor Kevin Spacey will reprise his role as the villainous Lex Luthor in the upcoming sequel “Superman: Man of Steel,” according to recent media reports.

Variety reported earlier this week that Kevin Spacey met with “Superman Returns” director Bryan Singer about playing Lex Luthor again. “Superman Returns” writer Michael Dougherty is reportedly working on the screenplay with Bryan Singer.

“Superman: Man of Steel” is tentatively slated for a 2009 release.

Spacey has other filming projects as well, such as an adaptation of a West End play about 1960s radio mogul Joe Meek. The 2005 play, titled “Telstar,” was directed by Moran and James Hicks.

The 47-year-old actor has been focusing on theater and there was even speculation that he may retire from acting in movies, which he has denied.

Spacey garnered his first Academy Award in 1995, for his role in “The Usual Suspects,” and a second one for 1999’s “American Beauty.”

Among the films he’s done in recent years are “Pay It Forward,” “The United States of Leland” and “Superman Returns.” He will next be seen in “Fred Claus,” alongside Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti and “21,” with Kate Bosworth and Laurence Fishburne.
