The Donald Returns to the TV

Donald Trump will return with his game show “The Apprentice” for a new season on NBC and he wants it packed with celebrities.

Cheeky as always and exuding that proud self-confidence of his, The Trump even went as far as saying he would welcome nemesis Rosie O’Donnell on his show if she was interested.

“It will never happen in this lifetime or beyond,” said Cindi Berger, O'Donnell's spokeswoman.

Indeed, not in this lifetime, unless the two have decided to treat viewers with some of their staple mutual verbal mauling.

“It would be great to have Rosie on The Apprentice,” Ben Silverman, the new chairman of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studio, said at a morning Television Critics Association news conference.

“Donald personally told me to extend an invitation to her.”

NBC announced Monday that “The Apprentice” would return to television sets across America in the middle of next season. Viewers will have the extra incentive of seeing celebrities on the show.

“The Apprentice” had originally been cancelled because of its low ratings, but newly appointed entertainment chief Ben Silverman revived it.

No participating celebrities have been named yet. If you’re worried that some unfortunate famous person will have to actually work for Trump because they’ve won the contest, lay all fears aside. NBC said the winner would give proceeds to charity instead.

The network also said it was looking for people with entrepreneurial abilities in areas such as sports, entertainment and fashion.

Other announcements from NBC on Monday were that the network will collaborate with magician Criss Angel and psychic celebrity Uri Geller for a competition where they will search for the next great “mentalist.”

Jerry Seinfeld will return to NBC next season as a guest on the new season’s first episode of “30 Rock,” which stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Seinfeld said he was thrilled to guest star.
