Apple Releases Software Update for Shiny New Keyboard

Launched simultaneously with the new iMac, Apple’s silver-colored, aluminum keyboard is now fully functional thanks to the software update provided by the Cupertino, CA-based company.

The latest keyboard revision has introduced a few refreshing features (although probably not to every Mac user’s satisfaction), but has also removed others, like the Apple logo from the command key.

However, although Apple is renowned for its carefully designed products, it seemed like this time they blew it (a little, indeed, but it was noticeable) with the launch of a keyboard which did not have the top-notch performance everyone expects out of the box from an Apple release.

The company fixed the issue with a software piece that measures 32.1MB, available here, which should allow any new owner of iMac to “take advantage of the special features" of the keyboard.

These include- as mentioned by Steve Jobs himself- the possibility to control screen brightness using just the buttons, the option to activate Expose and even some media controls that work with iTunes.

The new features are included both on the $49 wired, full sized keyboard and the $79 Bluetooth-equipped wireless keyboard.
