Sixers and Nuggets Swap Players

The franchises that made the Allen Iverson blockbuster trade, the Sixers and the Nuggets agreed for another transfer on Monday.
Philadelphia and Denver agreed to a deal that will see center Steven Hunter and forward Bobby Jones go the Nuggets’ way and forward Reggie Evans plus the draft rights to Puerto Rican forward Ricky Sanchez the other.

Evans should be welcomed under the Sixers’ boards. The 6-8, 245-pound forward led the NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes played (19.6) and has ranked in the top 10 in that category in each of the last four seasons.

“We are excited to add Reggie Evans to our roster. He is an accomplished rebounder that we feel will make an immediate impact and will exemplify our commitment to hard work, rebounding and defense,'' said Sixers team president Billy King.

Sanchez, a 6-11, 215-pound forward, who is the 35th pick in the 2005 draft, will spend this season playing overseas.

On the other side, Steven Hunter is a 7 ft, 240 lb center, who saw much more action after Allen Iverson’s departure and became a regular in the starting lineup. The 25-year-old averaged career highs in games started (41), minutes played (22.9 per game), points (6.4) and rebounds (4.8) in 70 games played.

The other guy brought by Denver to strengthen its lines, Bobby Jones, was obtained by the Sixers in a draft night trade in 2006, posted averages of 2.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 7.6 minutes per game during his only season as a Sixer.
