Worries surrounding pop singer Britney Spears are being echoed by her former bodyguard who insisted in an interview with British tabloid News of the World that she is an unfit mother and he was afraid for her life and her kids’ life while he worked for her.
According to the newspaper, Tony Barretto, who worked on a full-time basis for Britney since she left rehab until May, claims she is a mentally instable drug addict and an unfit mother.
"I've been concerned about her erratic behavior from day one," he confessed.
"I couldn't stand by and let the kids stay around her any longer. She has mental problems, and they are not helped by her taking drugs and alcohol," Barretto revealed.
The bodyguard, who said he was afraid no one would believe him if he alerted child protection officers, claims the singer’s children "need attention and Britney doesn't appear to be willing to give them that at the moment. She can't cope with being a mother, as she has such a low boredom threshold," he added.
She also frightens her two sons Sean Preston and Jayden James by talking to them in weird voices while sometimes she forgets to even feed them and leaves them unsupervised.
"She speaks to them in weird, creepy, baby voices, in made-up languages, which they just don't get. All it does is unsettle, upset and scare them. Often she would scream and cry uncontrollably. Imagine what that is like for young children," Barretto said adding that even though Britney is trying to be a good mother, and she’s happy when her kids are happy, she is clueless when it comes to cooling them down when they’re distressed.
Barretto, also known as "Fat Tony" recently testified against the troubled star in court but Britney’s former lawyer, Laura Wasser called him an unreliable witness for the case.
Claiming he only wants something to be done for the sake of the children, Barretto described Britney’s terrifying overdose at the Mondrian Hotel saying "We were desperately concerned about her mental and physical welfare. She was acting very nervously and biting her acrylic nails down to the base. She was deeply upset and appeared distraught, with tears in her eyes. I've never seen her so bad. While all this was going on she could only say: ‘I don't feel good."
At one point, Barretto said he panicked and afraid Britney was going to die while her cousin/assistant Alli Sims wanted to get her a medic to detoxify her.
In order to keep Britney under control and make things easier for everyone, Britney’s staff had to trick her into consuming drinks which weren’t as strong as they appeared.
"All of a sudden, we weren't bodyguards anymore. We'd turned into babysitters! We had to cut back on her booze because it was easier for us," he said.
Most recently, the 25-year-old singer was charged with hit and run and driving without a valid license over an August 6 fender-bender in which she crashed her car into a parked vehicle while trying to park her own. She faces up to six months in jail for each count.
