This morning’s particularly unbelievable rumor on the buzzing Internet is that The White Stripes drummer Meg White reportedly stars in a sex tape. As if.
The quiet, soft-spoken, self-professed shy Meg White in a sex tape? Never.
Celebrity gossip site TMZ.com seems indignant as well and quotes the band’s spokesperson as saying, “Some people have a very twisted sense of humor and this prank is in particularly bad taste. The tape circulating on the Internet as featuring Meg White is fake. It's definitely not Meg.”
Various gossip sites are even speculating that the sex tape is the real reason behind the rock duo’s recent cancellation of their tour – and not Meg’s “acute anxiety,” as stated. The verdict has been given though: the woman appearing in the raunchy video is not the 32-year-old White Stripes drummer.
Earlier this month, the White Stripes, comprised of Meg White on drums and backing vocals and Jack White as lead vocalist and on guitar and piano, announced in a message posted on their official website that they would cancel an upcoming tour of the U. S. due to health problems.
“Meg White is suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time,” the notice read. “We hate to let people down and are very sorry.”
The two canceled scheduled gigs in the UK as well. They had been touring in support of their new album, “Icky Thump,” released this year in June.
They founded the White Stripes in 1997. Jack (born John Anthony Gillis) had met Meg White in 1994. When they gained wide popularity in the early 2000s, with the release of their first album, “White Stripes,” the two enjoyed the media’s curiosity as to their relationship.
While they allowed fans to speculate for a while whether they were siblings, it was ultimately revealed that they had been married from 1996 to 2000. Jack married model Karen Elson in 2005; the couple has two children: Scarlett Teresa, 1, and Henry, born this year in August.
