There’s something about Jen: according to a new Forbes.com ranking of top-selling faces, Jennifer Aniston’s visage on a celebrity magazine is the most alluring for readers.
Forbes.com set about to make the first-ever analysis of top-selling celebrity faces and had some interesting findings.
Monitoring newsstands sales of six leading celebrity weekly magazines - People, Star, US Weekly, In Touch Weekly, Life & Style and OK! – over a six-month period, Forbes discovered that the former “Friend” was the most magnetic for customers.
Her face sold more than 5 million copies during January-June of this year, appearing in each of the above-mentioned mags at least once (except In Touch).
Former husband Brad Pitt came in second and was the only man to appear in the top 10. Actresses Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes rounded out the top six spots.
Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson, both contestants on “American Idol,” tied for seventh place, while actress and Jenny Craig spokeswoman Valerie Bertinelli and morning talk show host Kelly Ripa rounded out the top ten.
As for an explanation to Jennifer Aniston’s general appeal, Forbes.com quotes Candace Trunzo, editor in chief of Star magazine: “She's the classic wronged woman,” says the editor. “I think that most women can relate to and empathize with someone that was so in love with a man who, in an incredible Hollywood twist, leaves her for his co-star in a film.”
Forbes.com names Britney Spears “the biggest disappointment at the newsstand” who, despite a whopping 18 single covers in six months, sold less than average. The only other celebrity faring worse than Britney was socialite Paris Hilton.
The reason for Britney’s lack of appeal? Forbes.com quotes In Touch Weekly editor in chief Richard Spencer: “Usually there's a roller coaster of emotions. But unfortunately for Britney, there's been no roller coaster lately; there's just been the downhill.”
Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt divorced more than two years ago, after seven years of marriage and of standing out as Hollywood’s golden couple. Brad went on to have a relationship with Angelina Jolie, his co-star in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” The couple now has four children and numerous charitable endeavors.
Jennifer has not been as lucky in love. Relationships with Vince Vaughn, her co-star in “The Break-Up,” and with British model Paul Sculfor have both failed.
