According to his attorney, William Head, Lil’ Wayne’s latest incident
that took place on Friday night and brought him in jail was just a misunderstanding.
Head was astonished to learn late Friday night that his
client was escorted to Ada County Jail on felony fugitive charges in connection
to a 2006 arrest in Georgia
on possessing illegal substances, such as marijuana and more than 100 Xanax and
hydrocodone pills.
But according to the 25-year rapper whose original name is
Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., the lawyer that was in charge with his cases at that
time told him that the case was dismissed and they have never thought about it
again.
Lil’ Wayne remained in the Ada
County Jail from Friday night, when he was arrested right after his show at the
Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho until Saturday evening, when his
lawyer cleared things up before court. Head claimed that his client might have
not been aware of the charges. “They were under the impression that those
charges had either been resolved or dismissed,” Head stated.
Lil’ Wayne was released on $20,000
bail by Fulton County judge Craig Schwall’s decision
and until further procedures are established, he will be as free as bird.
He had been oblivious of the any notices due to the fact he
had been on tour a long period of time, not being aware that he had been
declared a fugitive for having missed two court hearings in Fulton County
in August.
Lil’ Wayne is expected to
appear in Fulton County court on Tuesday.
