Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Ryan Philippe, in November 2006, and as of Oct. 5, 2007, both are officially single again.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ.com has the inside scoop as usual and reports that the two actors, once Hollywood’s golden couple and the exception from the divorce-in-two-years rule, are officially divorced.

Court documents obtained by the website show that their divorce was finalized on Oct. 5. Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce on November 8, 2006, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. The couple, married for seven years, has two children: 8-year-old daughter Ava, and 4-year-old son Deacon.

Reese, 31, and Ryan, 33, co-starred in the 1999 movie “Cruel Intentions,” alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.

Both actors have been very discreet about their divorce, declining to comment on the break-up, despite rumors of infidelity on Ryan’s part. There were initially rumors of a relationship between Ryan and Australian actress Abbie Cornish, 25, whom he met while filming the drama “Stop Loss.”

Reese herself has been linked to her “Rendition” co-star Jake Gyllenhaal, after the announcement of her separation from Ryan. Her supposed relationship to the 26-year-old actor has drawn plenty of media attention.

Last month, the actress spoke openly about the separation for the first time, telling Elle magazine that it was a difficult and frightening experience for her.

In 2005, Reese (who has starred in “Legally Blonde” and “Home Sweet Alabama”) picked up multiple prizes for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in “Walk the Line,” including an Academy Award for best actress.

She can next be seen in “Rendition,” due out later this month.

Ryan’s recent work includes a role in Clint Eastwood's acclaimed World War II drama “Flags of Our Fathers” and in “Breach,” released earlier this year, where he stars alongside Chris Cooper and Laura Linney.
